Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Dir: Irvin Kershner
Well, the Empire couldn’t just let the pesky rebels destroy the Death Star and get away with it!
The sequel to ‘Star Wars’ is quite a different change in pace and tone, within the first half hour, quite a lot happens! I don’t see how this Luke fellow is really going to save the galaxy when he needs so much flippin’ rescuing… but I’m sure all will be revealed!
This film still has some humour, and a little of the light-hearted fun of the first, but the action is a lot more punchy, the pace is far brisker, and you get a good deal more development in the overall plot and characters. It’s at this point, after seeing the ‘first’ two, that I am better understanding the appeal, especially when they were originally released.
Time to cuddle the kitten, eat some dinner, and then I will watch the Jedi apparently returning…
