My predictions for this weekend’s BAFTA Film Awards

I like the BAFTAs, they’re on at a good time on a Sunday evening in the UK, shown on a free-to-air TV channel without commercials and often well-presented by Stephen Fry. Beyond the awards ceremony itself, the BAFTA nominations are usually a well varied selection of films with a distinct ‘British’ leaning, yet also regularly featuring plaudits for films otherwise overlooked by the Globes or the Academy awards.

This is a good opportunity to warm up the prediction muscles, so I always have a go at seriously guessing what will win on the night, using the same scoring system as I will for the Oscars in a fortnight. Simply, I predict 1st choice of winning, a backup 2nd choice (that film that I think may have an outside chance over the assumed favourite) and indicate with a ‘P’ my personal choice of what I think should win. This is then scored as 2pts for a correct first choice, 1pt for a right second choice, no points are awarded for personal preference films winning as they’re just there out of interest.

Here’s our printable 2017 BAFTA ballot PDF for you to print out or fill in on your device so you can have a go at home and maybe challenge your friends and family as I do.
